~Letting go~
(Dakota)
There are three memories that can never be buried in my mind.
First, I was three, my mother's funeral, but I never really remembered her because she died giving birth to my sister. That was the first time I saw Dad cry.
Second, When I was four, I remember my dad teaching me how to ride a bike. He wouldn't let go of my bike until I told him to because I was so scared, but there was that thrill of the wind rushing through my hair.
Third,my most vivd memory was when I was ten when I went to my father's funeral. The people were singing the saddest songs I ever heard. Sis just sobbed because she started realizing that she was losing something important in her life, something that couldn't be replaced. I just stood there wondering what the heck was happening because Dad promised he would stay with us forever. I didn't cry just stared at the coffin blankly, thinking that there was actually no one in there, and our Dad was just playing a mean trick.
When the funeral service was over, I went down to the ocean. Ryan was there in his funeral clothing. He really liked my dad. Ryan was older than me by three years, but he seemed much older. He was my only best friend. He was chucking rocks into the ocean like there was a never-ending supply. He noticed me hovering nearby, and stopped his rock-chucking business. He walked over and hugged me, and that's when the floodgates were released. Ryan was like the big brother I never had. I sobbed into his tux jacket, but he didn't mind. When I was finished, we sat down on the sand beside the ocean.
The winds started picking up, and it got colder as the sun started setting. I liked the breeze, but it was getting really cold. Ryan noticed I was shivering, and he gestured for me to get closer to him. I slid over and he covered the two of us with his jacket. It was much warmer and the two of us stayed and watched the sunset til we went to his home for dinner.
Dina was already there, not talking and sitting in a chair. Mr. and Mrs. Blake said grace, and we ate our food quietly and somberly. When we were finished, I picked up my plate and went to the sink, helping with the cleaning up. Mrs. Blake shooed me away and said we just lost our Dad and shouldn't have to do the dishes today. I followed Ryan outside to lie on the sand, but Dina stayed in the house moping.
Ryan and I watched the stars. Ryan said that one day we would become starcatchers and whisper our dreams and wishes to the stars and they would be granted. I told Ryan that I wished that Dad was alive again, and Dina, Dad, Ryan, and I would live in a beautiful castle right by the ocean. We would live forever and never have a worry or care. He said that was a good wish, but I shouldn't tell anyone or it might not be granted. It was awfully dark now, so Ryan held my hand until we got back to his home. The warmth of his hand was comfort to me because at least he wouldn't leave me like my mom and dad.
~What happens when the pretty fairy zaps you~
(Dakota)
My 14th Summer must have been the most dramatic change for me. It was like yesterday I was the flattest and most plain cardboard girl in the whole town. Then all of a sudden the pretty fairy decides to come and zap me. Overnight my chest blows up to any other girl my normal age. My legs shoot from under me and I look like a clown in high heels trying to walk without tripping. My black hair looked all long and glossy, not oily. My skin was perfect, unblemished, and glowing radiantly. My nose, mouth, and eyes all looked perfect, in the right position and right size. I was never chubby, but almost all of my baby fat on my face disappeared. My eyes were my most brilliant feature, like a navy blue sky filled with stars.
It felt like this was what God was paying me for taking my father and mother. I'd give up all this for my parents. My whole body was perfect like never before. My sister and I still lived with Mr. and Mrs. Blake, and Ryan. So when I walked downstairs in my capris (that were now shorts because I was growing to fast) and my too short t-shirt. Dina looked at me like I was an alien, Ryan's jaw dropped and his spoon fell into his bowl of cereal, and Mrs. Blake's eyes filled with tears and she cupped her face. Later, she announced it was time to go shopping for new clothes for me, and Dina cheered. Ryan kept staring at me in a funny way. He didn't come with us to buy clothes because he was busy with Miki and Damian.
Mrs. Blake said I should get my hair cut because it would be unbearable in the summer. I got it cut into a short hairstyle with long sidebangs. Mrs. Blake said it was very fitting for me. Dina also got her hair cut short too, but she didn't bother to ask for any style because she looked cute in any cut. Mrs. Blake bought some clips and hair ties for Dina and me. Then she let Dina go off to the toy department while I had to go buy my very first...bra. She said Ryan would move up to the attic to sleep. I felt bad because it was his bedroom in the first place. Mrs. Blake forced me to buy ten bras, and I was wondering why I had to buy so many. I had to buy new underwear. Mrs. Blake chose some tank tops, camisoles, t-shirts, v-necks, and long-sleeved shirts, skirts, shorts, jeans, and shoes. I didn't know why she had bought me so much clothing. She told me guys would be courting me in these last four years before I became an adult, and all she could do for me was make me presentable for my future husband. She told me that I was the daughter she never gave birth to, but she loved me just as much as her own.
I was so happy when she said that, that I hugged her and it really felt like I actually belonged in this family.
~The Ryan, Miki, and Damian fangirl club~
(Dakota)
My first encounter with The Ryan, Miki, and Damian fangirl club or T.R.M.D.C. was after I changed into my new clothes that Mrs. Blake bought for me. I was walking to the place on the beach where me and Ryan usually lie and stare up at the sky when my dad died. Ryan and his two guy friends, Miki and Damian were lying on that place staring out at the ocean and talking. I couldn't really hear them, but I didn't want to interrupt their guy moment, so I just sat down where they couldn't see me but I could still see them. All of a sudden, a shadow of people covered the sun from my view. I looked up and saw four girls standing over me looking at me.
" You're in our spot girly," the oldest girl with long hair shook her head disapprovingly.
" Yeah, move your butt, this is our watching spot," glared the snooty girl.
The other two girls behind them just remained silent and looking down at their feet. I scurried up, but instead I tripped because I was still adjusting to my new legs.
" Oh my gosh! Look at the stumbling ant! Ha! What a loser! Right girls?!" smirked the snooty girl.
The snooty girl and the oldest girl with long hair just laughed shrilly, while the other two girls just remained silent like stone statues. I could feel the tears well up in my eyes.
" Oh look! The stumbling ant is crying now! What a laugh!" the snooty girl laughed in her shrill laugh.
The two girls were laughing so loud and shrilly, and I was trying so hard not to cry that I didn't hear the three guys walk up from behind me.
" What are you girls up to?" questioned Ryan as he looked around at the the other girls shocked faces. When his eyes landed on my face, his facial expression hardened. " What did you girls do?"
The girls shocked faces just stared back at him. The oldest girl with long hair just stared back at him, and she tried to talk but all she did was open her mouth then close it again. The snooty girl backed up, dragging the oldest girl and the other two away. When the oldest girl finally regained her composure, she turned around swiftly and marched away in her flip-flops and the other girls marched right after her.
" Are you okay?" asked Ryan in a gentleness I had never heard before.
I nodded slowly as if I didn't understand what he was asking, but I heard every word he was saying.
" Hey girl, what's your number, maybe we can hang out sometime?" grinned Miki hopefully.
I stared at him in astonishment. Miki always called me the little pip-squeak.
"...Umm... I'm Dakota..don't you remember me?" I asked nervously.
" What?! Your the little pip-squeak! When did you become a babe?!" shouted Miki in astonishment.
I blushed furiously pink and Ryan kept looking at me funny. When I actually looked at him, he turned a light shade of pink, and Damian started teasing him.
" Oh, Ryan! You have the hots for the little pip-squeak! Look at you blush!" teased Damian.
" Shut up, man! I don't tease you about liking Sadie, and she confessed to me before, not you!" blushed Ryan furiously.
" Hey! That's a low blow, man!" Damian's face quickly changed from teasing to annoyance.
"Well, if you don't tease me, I won't do that to you either," Ryan retorted.
"Deal, but everyone can totally tell how you dote on the little princess," Damian teased back once more.
~Miki's Family~
(Dakota)
"While you two morons fight back and forth, I gotta go home and take care of my little nieces, " Miki laughed.
"Oh yeah, little Rosa, Bella, and Rosalind, who are all in love with Uncle Mik!" snickered Damian.
"Yeah, well their the cutest kids in th whole world," said Miki proudly, "Hey, you guys wanna come see them?"
"Sure! You wanna go Dakota?" asked Ryan kindly.
I looked up at him and nodded curtly. We all walked at short ways into town. We passed the bakery, police station, and general store before we reached Mik's brother's house. There were dolls, stuffed animals, and doll houses strewn all over inside the house.
" Rosa! Bella! Rosalind! Mik's here!" shouted Mik.
"Uncle Mik's here!!!" squealed three little girls.
The three little girls all grabbed onto Mik's legs and semi-dragged him down the hallway.
"Hey, watch it girls!" exclaimed Mik, then he fell over and the girls all landed on top of him. Mik was laughing along really hard with the squealing and giggly little girls. He looked like he really enjoyed being with them.
"That is why I never want to have children, they attack you, " exclaimed Damian.
"Actually, I think their awfully cute, " Ryan said as he watched them tackle Mik.
We all heard someone walking briskly from the kitchen towards us. A frazzled looking woman in slippers came down the hallway holding a hairbrush.
"Oh, you must be Miki's friends! Sorry that the house is such a mess, my girls always leave their stuff all over the house," apologized the woman, " I'm Rosabella, mother of Rosa, Bella, and Rosalind, wife to Kane, sister-in-law of Miki, and stay-at-home-mom. I'm sorry that I talk this way, but my speech is the only thing organized in this house."
"That's okay," replied Ryan quickly.
"Thanks for being so understanding, some people who don't understand are so rude, one time this woman just walked off when I began to talk to her after I dropped off Rosa for ballet. Anyways, are you boys and girl staying for dinner?" asked Rosabella.
"Oh, well my mother already cooked for us, but thanks for the kind offer," replied Ryan politely.
"Oh well, too bad, I was gonna make my famous chocolate pudding cake for dessert," exclaimed Rosabella sadly, " Well, if you need anything, just holler!"
"Dakota and I have to get home before the sun completely sets, so good-bye!" hollered Ryan while walking backwards.
"See ya darlings!" cried out Rosabella as she walked back into the kitchen.
"See ya Ryan, bye Dakota!" shouted Damian.
"Bye..." I mumbled quietly.
Ryan and I took the long way home, just so we could walk to the beach and see the sunset. I just abruptly stopped, and sat down in our special spot. The sun was a glimmer of hope for the sky and other people who looked up at it too, while Ryan was my glimmer of hope in the world. I don't think I would have survived without Ryan here with me.
~The world is a sad place to be~
The world is a sad place to be when there is no one to love you and for you to love back. The world is a sad place to be when someone you love dies, because the only thing you fear is not of bugs, heights, the dark, or even your own death. The only thing you fear at that moment is if that person is gonna die. What you would be willing to do to bring them back is beyond measure.
I was fifteen and Ryan was eighteen when I went to my third funeral.
The whole town went to Mr. Elvyn Smith's funeral. He was a soldier who was fighting for the freedom of third world countries, but a bullet to his heart ended his mission for the freedom of others who never had a taste. Mr. Smith was the most giving man in our whole town. He was always organizing charity events to give to the poor when he wasn't fighting for some person's freedom. He was a great person, and I always talked to him whenever I saw him. I usually visited Adara, who was the same age as me, because she and I had so much in common and we loved to talk to each other.
Ms. Smith was crying like she was going to die without Mr. Elvyn, and maybe she would. Because sometimes you love someone so much, you can't think of anything but be with them.
Ryan's mom, Mrs. Sakura, and Rosabella were all trying to comfort Ms. Smith to calm down.I swear if they left her for even a second, she would throw herself out of a two storey building. The fanclub girls were here, and I was sitting beside Ryan but I could feel those glares at the back of my head. I guess Sadie and the older girl were still mad at me because I hang around Ryan a lot.
When it was time to give out speechs in honour of Mr. Smith, Ms. Smith tried to read what she wrote down, but she teared up everytime. Until Adara stood up and guided her mother away with tears in her eyes. Ryan's father went up and delivered a speech followed by Ryan's mother. The rest of the adults went up too, to deliver their speechs. When all the adults finished delivering their speechs, I finally stood up and delivered my speech that I had practiced in my room over and over again. A few adults looked surprised and the others remained tearful and solemnly depressed.
"We are all here today to mourn for the death of Mr. Elvyn Smith. He was a human with a mission, to help the world be a better place for all people whether big or small, black or white, english or chinese, child or adult. But more importantly he was a man with a human heart. No, it was not his weakness in leading to his death, " I paused dramatically.
Ms. Smith was sniveling up again just hearing that her husband had died. Everyone stared back at me with red-rimmed eyes. Even Sadie and the Older girl looked sad and not wanting to rip me apart.
"His heart is three times bigger than all of ours. He was a generous, kind, and he was one that respected others who didn't have what he had. He had a lot of things that made him envied; his generosity, his beautiful wife, his lovely children, his freedom rights, and his heart. There are a lot of things that people envy him for, but this list would go on forever and ever if I listed them all, " I read out loud.
A few people chuckled softly and nodded their heads lightly.
" The point is that Mr. Smith never wanted to leave any of us, but his lesson for all of us is, that everyday is a gift, not our given right. Everyday we wake up alive, we thank god for giving us another day to enjoy this wonderful life. Mr. Smith's teaching us that everyday, we have to live it to our fullest. Because we only have one chance, and if we mess it up, we're screwed, " I spoke shakily.
I was getting so nervous standing up there. A few people in the audience chortled. I bravely took my stance one last time.
"Mr. Smith gave us one thing we could never really see until he pointed it out, and that is life. He never regretted his life a single day alive, so we should never regret living our life either, to make him proud, because we are carrying on his torch of life, " I spoke one last time.
I collected my papers, and looked up once more. The whole audience had tears in their eyes. Ms. Smith was staring at me, and she was smiling like she never really ever did smile. Adara was smiling at me, and that was the first time I ever saw her smile like that after her father's death.
I walked straight back to my seat beside Ryan, and he patted me on the back smiling. I knew that smile anywhere. That smile mean he was really proud of me. I smiled back and my lip quivered. I was so nervous up there, but I managed to keep my cool up there. Tears started to flow in my eyes, and Ryan leaned down to hug me. I hugged him back, and I knew that Ryan was that special person I loved. I would give up the world to be with him, even if it meant being selfish. I know I wouldn't be able to live without Ryan, and I knew because of all the life lessons that Mr. Smith taught me. I've got to cherish Ryan like never before because you never know. He might be taken away the next day, and I would never see him again.
~The big tree in the backyard~
The day after Mr. Elvyn Smith's funeral was a sad one. People either stayed indoors moping, or they went to comfort Ms. Smith, who was doing fine since after my speech. It was one of those quiet days, where it seems like everyone is indoors. You don't hear a single car in the road, and not a single person doing anything. It was sort of like the village of the dead.
Mrs. Blake was sewing a quilt for the coming winter that wouldn't be here until six months later. Mr. Blake was reading the newspaper inside, and Dina was at Adara's house playing with her little sister, Belita, who was about the same age as her. Ryan was going to the arcade with Damian and Miki. I stayed at home, but decided to go out on this wonderfully beautiful day. I walked out to the giant tree in the backyard with my book in hand.
I sat down with my back against the tree, and started to read Reincarnation by Suzanne Weyn. It was a wonderful book about two star-crossed souls that keep coming back alive to be together, but destiny dosesn't allow them to be together. I kept reading, and reading that I didn't notice the time passing by.
When I finally looked up, I noticed that the sun was starting to set down on the west. I put down my book, and stared up at the sky dreamily. I wondered if mom and dad could see us down here. I hated God for taking away my parents, but Mrs. Blake told me, that God takes people to sky to live with him because they like them so much. I still didn't like how he took my parents, but I've learned to face the facts that they aren't coming back.I've always had things to think about, so I always sit in the backyard and sit against this big oak tree. It's so sad how this tree is all alone. How can god be so cruel to a single person or living thing to let them be all alone there whole life, but god showed me cruelness, he also showed me love through my new family, and so I have faith in him.
~Love in the rain~
Me and Ryan have been together since I was ten, and now I'm 16, and he's 19, but it feels like I've known him so much longer. Ever since that fateful day when my dad died. I started loving Ri as a brother since my dad died, but when I became 13, I started loving him as something more. He was no longer just Ryan, it was Ri. A pet name to symbolize how special he was to me, but Ri still called me Dakota. Not even my little sister, Dinah, and I were as close as Ri and me. I've dreamed that Ri and I would be together forever.
Ri worked at the general store as the assistant manager. I believed that Ri had potential, and one day he would open his own store, he told me it was his dream. He said our family would live like Kings, but I don't think that will happen.
One day I was going to the general store because Ri had forgotten his umbrella, and the rain was coming down. Ri was almost finished working, when I arrived. After he put on his rain slicker and boots, we strolled outside. Ri said he wanted to go to the forest because it would be really beautiful right now, and I agreed. Suddenly, Ri spun around. He told me he had loved me since I was a little girl of 4. When he first held my little hand, he had fallen in love, and wanted to protect the fragile little hand of mine. He thought I was the cutest and most beautiful little girl he had ever seen. My face was flaming after he finished talking, and his face was flushed pink. I mumbled that I loved him too, and his face got all happy and even redder than before.
He picked me up by the waist, and I squealed. I dropped my umbrella in a puddle, and he swung me around and around. I was getting dizzier and my head was spinning. Ri set me down and steadied me. My hair and face were soaked from the rain, but flushed with happiness and laughing. We both went home without the umbrella, and we skipped all the way home. We both caught a cold, but we were happy like never before because we were together. I missed school for a week, and Ri only stayed home for the first two days. But Ri had work, so he tried to stall as long as he could in the morning to be near me. He held my hand, when he got home until I woke up, or when it was supper. I knew that I was already his, but one day he would formally be mine for the rest of our lives. We would make our vows in the beautiful church that my father and mother's funeral procession and wedding had happened. It would be a place of happiness and a place to remember to cherish every moment. They would both watch from Heaven hoping for our happiness.
I've kissed Ri in the rain, in the dark, on the beach, in the ocean, in a store, under the tree in the backyard, without shoes, under the stars, with ice cream moustaches, and in a tree. I've kissed him a thousand times. And everytime I'm with him, I stumble over what I want to say. My heart bursts at the seams at how much love overfills my soul. Love is like water bubbling over in my glass of life.
~Bowling Angels in Heaven~
When it rains, I want to believe it's the angels and God crying. I wanna die on a rainy day, I want to believe that the angels and God are crying for me. I feel suddenly sad because Mama used to tell me that thunder and lightning were created by the angels bowling. I said I wanted to go to Heaven, and be an angel so I could bowl. Mama laughed and hugged me closer and tighter. She told me to wait until I found out about true love, I'd never want to leave Earth, even to bowl with angels. I told her I didn't believe that love would be better than bowling. She laughed, and told me that, she loved me, and that was family love. It was a special love. And I agreed with Mama after that because Mama's love was better than bowling by infinity.
When I had time, I thought of a lot of things. Some of them make me feel happy, but most of them remind me of Mama and Daddy. The memories I tried so hard to suppress.
I would sit in Mama's lap as she sat beside the window, as the little tears of Heaven hit the window. Mama would sing a beautiful song, and the rain brought the harmony to her beautiful song filled with love from her voice. Now that Mama was no longer here, I used to sit alone beside the window that faced the ocean in Ri's parent's house. I'd blow warm air at the window and draw tiny hearts and stars, and sometimes wish for Mama and Daddy to come back from Heaven and take me and Dinah with them. We'd bowl everyday, and swing on the moon at night, but most of all, we'd be together. Now that I've found what Mama wanted me to find, I don't want to go to Heaven yet, at least not without Ri.
~Memories of my beautiful Mama~
Sometimes I think of Mama and Daddy so much, it breaks my heart in half and I want them to come back. But sometimes it feels like they don't even exist but they still do, like a a dream. At times, I remember bits and pieces of who they are. Sometimes I remember the whole story of my past. All I remember, was that Mama had the face of an angel, blond white hair to her chest, and sparkling grinning blue grey eyes, like beautiful sphere glass marbles that she bought for me. I kept the marbles in my treasure pouch, hidden under my pillow. Mama was a strong woman of both body and soul. She had delicate curls and soft healthy skin. Daddy had said she had soft skin like a newborn baby. She was very graceful, when she laughed or danced, her face would tilt to the sky and her dimples would appear. Her curls danced with her, bobbing up and down, and to and fro. She would close her pretty eyes, and her lashes and pink lips would smile too, like her whole face was alive. Her eyes were like windows into her soul, and eyes that stared into other people's souls. Her long graceful arms were like beautiful white wings. She was not as tall as Daddy, but she wasn't short for sure. She was in between tall and short. Daddy used to always say that Mama was born with an old soul. Daddy was tall, he was lanky. They were both beautiful people, they were fallen angels that had stolen each other's hearts. Daddy and Mama didn't have any siblings, so I didn't have any uncles, aunts, or cousins. But now, I have my sister and Ryan, and Mr. and Mrs. Blake. I also had the friends I had made. I had fallen in love with everyone in this town, even Sadie and her club of girls. The whole town was one big extended family. I belonged.
~On the path of mending~
My dear little sister was pregnant. She kept refusing to tell Mrs. Blake, Ri, and I, who the father was. Until she broke down in tears, I finally heard her say his name, Damian. I stared at her in disbelief as she started blubbering that she loved him and he loved her. Damian was the player in Ri's group of friends, and I'll believe he loves her when hell freezes over.
" He says he'll marry me when I'm legally allowed to marry!" Dinah whimpered as she wiped her eyes and snotty nose.
My hand clenched into a fist. The rage surging through me was making me see red. Ryan beside me, was silent but his calm fury was more scary than mine. Know one touches my sister, not without my consent, and especially a man who was at least 6 years older than her. I grabbed my sisters arm, and we yanked her out the front door. She shrieked and yelled. Dinah tried to use her feet to stop herself, but Ryan just pushed her forward. Mrs. Blake tried to protest that we shouldn't drag Dinah down the street like this. But I no longer cared who saw me, all I cared was that my sister at least regain her dignity from the man who stole it from her. The two of us marched to Damian's house, while Dinah was crying and being half dragged and pushed there. Mothers and little kids out on strolls turned toward the noise and movement. By the time we would leave Damian's house, the gossip and rumors would have spread through the town, but I didn't care. I pounded on Damian's door noisely.
"Damian!!! Get out here right now!" I yelled loudly.
A few seconds later, an older woman that looked like an older version of Damian with longer hair and prettier face answered the door.
"Whats with all the racket?! Are the coyotes at your feet?!" questioned the older woman looking slightly annoyed.
"I demand that Damian, come out here and explain himself!" I calmly but loudly spoke.
The older woman looked more annoyed, "What has my idiot son done this time?!"
The older woman opened the door wider and gestured us to come inside. Dinah's loud sniffling echoed as she entered the house. Then she furiously turned around marched to the foot of the stairs and yelled louder than thunder.
" GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW, DAMIAN WILLIAM JAMES!!!" Yelled the woman with all her might.
Damian came down with a saunter and a very annoyed expression, before he saw Dinah, Ri, and I standing in the front hallway of his house. When his eyes finally landed on Dinah, his curious gaze softened into tenderness.
His mother crossed her arms, "Explain why this girl wishes to see you," she narrows her eyes at Damian crossly.
"Can I talk to them privately first, mom," Damian stared at Dinah softly.
"Is that okay with you guys?" As the older woman looked over at us.
"I guess..." I replied back quietly.
Damian lead us up the stairs, down the hallway to his room at the end on the left. The room was average size, but surprisingly it was neat and tidy. The other weird detail was that the room only had a bed, a chair, a closet, a desk and bulletin board with only a single piece of paper on it. I leaned closer to get a look, it was a personal note from his father, the one who had never married his mother because she was pregnant with him when she was 17. The one that never realized that his mother was carrying him, until five years ago. Five years ago, his father finally married his mother and they were happy for a year. But then his father passed away, and a large sum of money in his will was left to Damian and his mother. But the traumatic accident scarred Damian forever, and maybe that's why Damian became a player.
Sometimes fate can be so cruel, and it makes me wonder if we're all just chess pieces, each incredibly disposable. How cruel fate can truly be, just ripping love apart, then allowing them to meet again. Only to lose them again in the end, to something even greater than God, Death. I felt incredibly sad for Damian and his mother because I knew how it felt to lose someone precious, someone who had given you a name, given you a place in the world. Someone that is your home, even if they are halfway around the world.
Damian sat down on the bed, while Ryan and I merely stood, and Dinah stood behind me. When I finally spoke, my voice had lost its hardness, but instead I spoke in a voice that hid all emotion.
“Why, Damian? Why my sister?!” I shouted. My tone at first had tried to sound reasonable, but it only came out angrier. “For Christ sake! She's only 14! You're older than her by at least 6 years, Damian! You should have the common sense to understand!”
Damian's eyes never left Dinah once, and she stared right back at him. Ri didn't defend Damian, but he didn't say anything either.
Finally, Damian spoke in a steady tone, “I'm sorry and I will take full responsibility for everything, and I will marry Dinah when she turns 16.”
Dinah suddenly flushed red and looked away, but I wasn't prepared for what Damian just said. I stumbled backwards into Ryan. He caught me as I nearly tripped over his foot. I stared astonished at what Damian, in reality, I had wanted to yell at him some more, for being irresponsible. But now that he was apologizing and taking responsibility, I didn't know what to do.
“It doesn't matter, even if you decide to take care of her! Don't you realize how stupid and foolish your action was?! Because of you, my sister has to throw away her education and the life she had. You know what, I'm not going to let that happen to her. She is going to get an abortion!” I spoke with fury.
Dinah suddenly whimpered and hid behind Ryan. Damian was suddenly drained of colour and stared right at Dinah. I glared at Damian with deep hatred and loathing at what he had done to her. Damian had dark brown hair, and his nose looked like it was broken. I didn't understand what could cause my sister to be attracted to a guy like him.
